Our Location

The Gateway to the Midlands

With its pleasant climate, Hilton boasts a wealth of botanical splendour all year round. On the edge of the escarpment of Pietermaritzburg, Hilton benefits from views of surrounding mountains and valleys. On crisp, clear days (which are plentiful) the outlook can be quite spectacular.

Regarded as the “Gateway to the Midlands’, Hilton is just far enough from the larger cities to retain a country village appeal, but yet it’s within close proximity to the convenience of some of KZN’s top notch schools, modern specialised medical facilities, LIFE Hilton hospital. and recreation meaning you can live a farm life on Mount Verde and still have the convenience of being “in town”.

HEALTHCARE

Life Healthcare Group and Hilton Health provide world-class medical support to the area.

Life Healthcare Group, opened the doors to its newest hospital to date – Life Hilton Private Hospital based in Hilton. The 94 bed multidisciplinary hospital has enhanced Life Healthcare’s patient-care offering in the greater area with five operating theatres and over 40 associated resident specialists.

Hospital facilities include five theatres, intensive and high care unit, neonatal ICU, maternity and paediatric unit, renal dialysis and a high tech Oncology unit.  Expansion plans have been improved.

Hilton Health is a medical block offering supporting services to the Life Hilton Private Hospital. Hilton Health redefines healthcare to become patient orientated, integrating services of multi-disciplines, maximising the use of resources, skills and facilities.

Further medical developments have been planned.  Property running along Monzali Drive, parallel to the N3, has already been secured by developers and development approvals are in place.

Hilton’s location means it avoids the dry heat of Pietermaritzburg over summer months, as well as the humidity of Durban on the coast and while there are beautiful hot and summery days, it’s not an uncomfortable heat. The evenings cool down nicely, enough to warrant having a fireplace and opening a bottle of red wine.

Temperatures in winter range from an average of 3 degrees celsius to a maximum of 20 degrees celsius and summer temperatures start from 14 degrees, seldom reaching higher than 26 degrees.

Mount Verde has enjoyed an average annual rainfall of 1200ml historically.  Many of the crops grown on the estate are not irrigated and still enjoy high returns and yields.
