Located atop a high point of Mount Verde, overlooking the activities of neighbouring farms and the striking Ottos Bluff mountain, this home was designed for the outdoor enthusiast who enjoys the finer things in life. The farm house focus is on relaxation and simplicity. The interiors boast a casual, carefree atmosphere associated with family-centered living. Natural light is maximized with beautiful picture windows and a glass link passage to show off breath-taking outdoor scenery.
To keep the focus on nature, simple colour palettes consisting of a blend of neutrals are used throughout the home. This modern farmhouse style is the perfect blend of the traditional country look with the more minimal contemporary design. Whilst the fresh design aesthetic is prominent it also celebrates the historic, reminding us of simpler times.
The pops of the inky dark blue painted doors, and formal lounge walls is the perfect juxtaposition to the crisp white and creates a perfectly balanced backdrop for rugs and furnishings. The few touches of pastel sage greens add a feminine touch, while still allowing the modern scheme to stay strong.
Walking into the entrance, one is greeted by the expansive lounge, dining room and interactive kitchen into the centre of the guest experience. The entrance flows seamlessly into the living area which opens out onto a large covered veranda where one can sip on a couple of sundowners whilst enjoying the expanse of the green, herringbone rows of proteas and the grazing sheep and cattle.
The living is easy in this impressive, generously proportioned residence. The 3 spacious bedrooms have been uniquely designed to allow for maximum space while incorporating their views and outlook.
The 30ha farm offers hectares of land and considered one of the best arable farms within Mount Verde. The gentle slopes have a positive impact on orchard and other perennial crops, this together with good well drained soils increases the agricultural potential of the farm and high value crops such as Avos, Berries, Macadamia, Cut Flowers, Medicinal Plants etc. Permission to restore historical dam and irrigation rights have been applied for and in progress with an expected positive outcome. Natural spring fed streams flow strongly through the farm.
Previously approximately 21 ha were under successful protea cultivars. The pack shed, cold rooms, staff facilities and accommodation of over 1000sqm under roof, can be well utilized in any of the above mentioned high value crop production. An estimated 26ha can be intensively farmed.
